MB Apprenticeship Contest 2019 - Kristie Latta, Millwright Local 1443 Winner

Kristie Latta has been a Millwright since 2014.  She always knew she wanted to work in the trades but wasn’t sure which path she was going to take.  A family friend offered her a job as a Millwright apprentice and she knew right away that this was her career choice.  She joined Millwrights Local 1443 in June 2015.  During her apprenticeship, Kristie worked for several different contractors in a wide variety of locations including the Kelsey Generating Station, Royal Canadian Mint, Griffin Wheel, Koch Fertilizer, and the Gerdau steel mill.  Her favorite part of being a millwright is that it is rarely boring!  She completed her apprenticeship and earned her Red Seal Certification in 2018.  Kristie currently works for Black & McDonald at the Gerdau steel mill as a Foreman.
